Around 1986, indigenes of the Ibarapa and Oyo areas of Oyo State, Nigeria who lived in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, decided to create a formal organization that would, among other things, foster unity, organize social activities, plan for the future of their children being born here in the United States, and promote their cultural heritages. Since then, we have not forgotten the towns where we came from. We have, in various ways provided support to improve the lives of the residents of the towns we come from.
